Programs & services
The State Board of Veterinary Medical Examiners:
- Licenses and registers veterinarians, registered veterinary technicians and veterinary hospitals
- Submits licensure verification to other state veterinary boards upon request
- Reviews requests for approval of continuing education credits for veterinarians and veterinary technicians
- Works with the Veterinary Technician Committee in setting practice standards for registered veterinary technicians
- Licenses animal control facilities
- Inspects veterinary hospitals and animal control shelters
- Enforces the Veterinary Practice Act and related Code of Maryland regulations
- Handles complaints and disciplinary actions against veterinarians, registered veterinary technicians, and veterinary hospitals as required by Agriculture Article, §2-301, et seq., Annotated Code of Maryland.

Licenses for veterinarians & hospitals expire June 30 of every year. The listings show all current licensees.

Keep your veterinary license active and your information up to date. Renew before July 1 to avoid late fees, or update your license details as your practice changes.
