Turf & Seed Program
The Turf and Seed Section conducts regulatory and service programs, including seed inspection, testing, certification and quality control services, designed to insure the continued availability of high quality seed to Maryland's seed consumers. Seed is the single most important input to any cropping system.
To be successful, the grower, whether a farmer tilling hundreds of acres or a homeowner with a hundred square foot garden, must begin with quality seed.
Becoming a seedsman
To become a wholesale seedsman in Maryland you must obtain a permit through the Turf and Seed Section. Out-of-state wholesale seedsmen doing business in Maryland must also obtain a permit.
The permit is effective for a period of one year, commencing on July 1.
