Renew or Update Your Veterinary License

Important dates

  • Current Fiscal Year FY2027 (FY27) will run from July 1, 2026 through June 30th, 2027.

  • Next Renewal Year FY2028 (FY28) will run from July 1, 2027 through June 30th, 2028.

How to renew your license

Please read the following information before attempting to renew. We strongly recommend you use the Chrome browser.

License registration renewal

  1. Log in to OneStop

Visit Maryland OneStop and log in using the email account on file with the State Board of Veterinary Medical Examiners (SBVME).

If you no longer have access to that email address please submit a change of contact information form to have it updated.

If you have never used OneStop, you will need to register an account using the email address on file with the vet board. (Your log-ins from the old portal do not work and you must register).

If you get a message that says the email address is already in use, go to the Log In option and select reset password and wait for the reset password link to be emailed to you.

  2. Select My Dashboard & click on your license number

You'll find your license number at the bottom of the My Dashboard page.

  3. Submit continuing education records

Click on the green "Log New CE" button to submit your continuing education records. If you took more than one course, you will need to return to this page and select “Log New CE” for each course.

    • CEs should be submitted for the Renewal Year. The Renewal Year can be found on your Continuing Education Chart. If you do not enter at least 18 CE credits for Veterinarians or 24 CE credits for Veterinary Technicians under the Renewal Year, you will not be able to advance. Do not enter your CEs under the calendar year you completed them. Do not put your CEs under the current calendar year. (Note: Due to the Triennial nature of Veterinary Technician Registrations, Veterinary Technicians may enter CEs under the current calenda year or the current renewal year).
    • If you enter CE under the wrong year, you may go to your dashboard, scroll to the bottom and select your license number, on the page with the Log CE Button scroll to the bottom for a list of your entries. On the right-hand side there is a green button that will let you make adjustments to some fields including the fiscal year.
    • Credits may be used for up to 24 months from the date they were taken but may only be used towards 1 registration renewal.
    • Extra credits above 18 do not roll over from previous years and will not roll over into the next fiscal year. If you have a conference that provided more than 18 credits or wish to split an entry, you may make 2 entries - one for each fiscal year you wish to apply the credits. (note: Extra credits still need to be within 24 months of the registration renewal they are being applied to). Example: You took a 20 hour CE this year. You may make an 18 credit entry for the current renewal period and a 2 credit entry for the next renewal period.
    • You may put a full conference under a single entry; however, if you attended a conference that included both clinical and non-clinical/non-scientific courses (practice management, communications skills, or about state/federal regulatory programs), please split the credits into two entries, one for clinical and one for non-clinical credits. If selected for an audit, you will need to provide documentation containing enough detail to determine the type of courses taken. Acceptable documentation may be a certificate that distinguishes between clinical and non-clinical courses, or a supplemental transcript or course list describing the topics attended.
    • If you were licensed after July 1st you will not have to enter CEs. You will see a "first year exempt" entry for the renewal year for 18 credits.
    • All CEs may be taken online.
  4. Return to My Dashboard & click on your license number

You'll find your license number at the bottom of the My Dashboard page.

  5. Submit your renewal & payment

    • If you have entered 18 credits (or 24 for Veterinary Technicians) under the current Renewal Year, the “Log New CE” Button will change to an “Actions” button.
    • Click on the Actions button and a dropdown will appear. Select the second option to submit your registration renewal.
    • A pop up will appear instructing you to submit your initial form. Click on it and complete the form
      • Note: If the pop up does not appear, your browser is blocking pop-ups. Navigate to your browser's settings and enable pop-ups for this website. Then click on the Green “Actions” button again.
    • Submit payment.
  6. Receive email confirmation.

In about 3 to 5 minutes you will receive an email with a copy of your updated license registration.

If you have lost your login credentials

  1. Go to onestop.md.gov
  2. Click on the “log in” button
  3. Click on “forgot password”
  4. Instructions will be emailed to you

If you get a message that states: “Email is not found” or if you don’t receive the instructions, contact the office so we can confirm or update your email.

How to update your name, contact or employment information

State regulations require you to keep your home and employment information up to date within 30 days of a change, so please make sure the information we have is correct.

You will not be able to update your employment information on the portal. If you see it is incorrect, renew your registration and then submit the applicable form:

Hospital license renewals

Hospital Licenses are now renewed through an entity account. Entities are created by logging into your personal account.

If a hospital has been assigned to you you should click the drop down by your name and use "Claim Records" feature. This will prompt you to create an entity. You will manage the entity by useing the "Switch User" button in the drop down under your username in the top right corner.

The dashboard should change to "Entity Dashboard" and your hospital license will be available to manage.

Updating hospital information

If you are selling all or part of your hospital, opening a new veterinary hospital, changing the name of an exisiting hospital, or changing locations for a hospital, you have to let us know. See more info.

Veterinary Practice Act

If you haven't reviewed the Veterinary Practice Act or the regulations of the Act in awhile, now is a good time to review them. When you renew your license registration, you are required to affirm that you know and understand them.
